MORE ABOUT
STAND UP FOR THE ACTOR
You’ve probably taken many acting classes at various acting schools in Los Angeles. For both the business side of your career, and for your work as an artist, stand up comedy classes can be a valuable addition. Taking “Stand Up for The Actor” -- stand up comedy classes specially designed for the actor, can make learning stand up indispensable!

Your persona. Getting laughs as a comedian requires having a clear persona. Call it a type, a character, et cetera - working regularly in Hollywood absolutely demands you have one. Collaborating on your stand up material with Jonathan and your fellow classmates, and performing what you’ve written in class, offers a singularly productive process for discovering that persona. Once you’ve found it, you’ll walk into casting auditions - commercial auditions, TV auditions, movie auditions – knowing how to make any role uniquely your own. And, casting agents will be much more likely to remember you. This alone makes “Stand Up for the Actor,” one of the top acting classes in Los Angeles. (And by the way, casting agent like to see on your resume that you’ve take improv or stand up comedy classes – it’s one of the essential things they look for when deciding who to put up for sitcom auditions or any audition that requires a comic approach.)

Script analysis. Jokes are comprised of three elements: premises, set-ups and punch lines. And guess what? So are scripts. Crucially important for breaking down sitcom scripts, movie comedies and commercial copy - but also useful for drama – we’ll apply the mechanics of joke structure to dialogue and motivation. This will reveal new script dynamics and improve your acting choices. Another reason why “Stand Up for Actor,” is one of the top acting classes in Los Angeles.

Confidence at auditions. By the end of the eight weeks you’ll not only have your own six minute stand up set, but you’ll also have a modified version, more conversational, that you can rely on to make the most of the “tell us about yourself” moment at casting auditions. Also, we’ll practice “riffing” i.e., talking off-the-cuff with an audience. You’ll be forever more confident walking into a room full of producers and dev. execs. (You guessed it, that’s another reason why “Stand Up for Actor,” is one of the top acting classes in Los Angeles.)

Showcasing opportunities. Having that six minute stand up set to perform (see above) opens up countless new opportunities to be seen by the industry. And, of course, you’ll perform your set at the Stand Up for the Actor Graduation Show – at either the World Famous Comedy Store

IN SHORT: WE’LL DO A LOT, LEAN ALOT AND, OF COURSE, LAUGH A LOT. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thepositiveactor
